300 iQmetrix Employees Turn Hawaiian Beachfront Camping Retreat into Opportunity to Help Others
VANCOUVER, BC – February 21, 2017 – iQmetrix, a leading provider of interactive retail and retail management software solutions donated 200 SHIFTPODS shelters to Red Cross, FEMA, and The Hawaiian Marine Biology University after flying over 300 employees to Oahu, Hawaii for a one-week beachside camping retreat.
For the past 9 years, the company has been fortunate enough to take staff on an all-expense paid trip somewhere tropical. The unique and exciting trip is a chance for employees (affectionately called iQers) to come together to celebrate their successes, energize for the year ahead and meet colleagues from other offices.
Breaking away from their traditional getaway, this year iQmetrix created iQodyssey, a one-of-a-kind trip experience for their employees. The software company purchased 200+ SHIFTPOD tents (and camping gear for 300) and set up camp on 720 acres of the Turtle Bay Resort’s stunning land. Centered around mind, body, and spirit the team-building event offered a full schedule of rejuvenating activities for the staff to choose from. “From breathing exercises with Guiness World Record winner Wim Hof, yoga on the beach, painting, surfing and more, we created the agenda so there was something for everyone,” said Corporate Relations Director, Krystal Ho.
“All of the Shiftpods, cots, and bedding were donated to FEMA disaster relief, Red Cross and students from the Hawaiian Marine Biology University”
Aside from an annual festival that takes place on the grounds the company was the first to ever access and use the land. Sticking to their core values of giving back to the community and respecting the environment, the company ensured everything they used was donated and the grounds were left as they were found.
“All of the SHIFTPODS, cots, and bedding were donated to FEMA disaster relief, Red Cross and students met by chance from the Hawaiian Marine Biology University,” said Ho. “No items were left behind. In addition to the two truck loads of pods, commissary supplies (cooking utensils) were donated to the local Habitat for Humanity and any remaining food went to the local food bank.”
