What to Expect at Store 2019, Canada’s Biggest Retail Conference

We couldn’t be more excited to be attending Store 2019 this year! Known as the must-attend retail event for Canadian retailers, this year’s show, produced by the Retail Council of Canada, will attract over 2000 attendees, has a packed line up of over 70 speakers, and will host a ton of networking opportunities. There will also be awards and award galas, where top retailers will be recognized for excellence in retailing.

These are some of the highlights we’re looking forward to at the show starting on May 28 in Toronto. Get your notebooks ready for two days of knowledge and expertise, retailers!

Ashley Freeborn, Founder and Director of Smash + Tess

Smash + Tess is the brand of ethically produced loungewear that started in Vancouver, BC and has become a cult fashion hit. Not only just for moms like me who want to match those incredibly comfy-looking rompers that babies and toddlers get to wear (they really are comfy!). Smash + Tess has found a real gap in the women’ fashion market and has done so as a direct-to-consumer brand. I’m personally very interested to hear Ashley Freeborn’s story, and learn why she chose a direct-to-consumer business model, how she sees her growth beyond direct-to-consumer, and how to maintain a strong brand culture.

How Canadian Retailers Can Win With E-Commerce

If you’re going to talk e-commerce and consumer behavior, might as well talk to the experts. Jennifer Lee of Deloitte LLP and Eric Morris of Google Canada will be speaking about recent findings on change in consumer behavior and the unique challenges facing retailers in traditional, brand, and e-comm-only segments. There will be tons of actionable insights shared at this session.

Next Practice Retailing for Competitive Differentiation

Mike Webster, senior vice president of Oracle Retail, will present a forward-looking session focused on how technology is redefining the shopping journey, and how the role of the sales staff is being redefined as a result. He’ll be showcasing some of the most innovative retailers as case studies of how to respond to transformational change. Why not learn from the best?

Pinterest: A New Social Platform for Retailers

Too much choice as a consumer? Choice paralysis? Big time! Erin Elofson of Pinterest will walk us through what retail brands need to do to bring the magic back” to the online shopping experience, how to authentically show up in every phase of the shopping journey in this session called Inspired Shopping is Transforming the Consumer Experience.

Awards

The best of the Canadian retail will be recognized at the Excellence in Retailing Awards, hosted by CTV’s Ben Mulroney on May 28. And following that, the 26th Annual Canadian Grand Prix Award will celebrate and recognize the best new products of 2018. We’re excited to see who’s there!

iQmetrix will be at Store 2019, showcasing our latest retail technologies, and we’d love to talk retail with you! Pop on over to booth #211!
