Even open APIs, sometimes known as public APIs, which by definition provide a range of developers with access to software applications, can vary in their degree of openness. One example is today’s convoluted path to purchase: Today it’s very difficult to track a customer's journey across digital and physical touchpoints all the way to a transaction.
