According to 9to5mac.com, Apple will drop the Google Maps app on iOS 6, in favor of a completely in-house maps application.

"The application design is said to be fairly similar to the current Google Maps program on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, but it is described as a much cleaner, faster, and more reliable experience," wrote 9to5mac.com.

Mashable reported last week (March 9) that Nike is opening a new pop-up store in the U.K. to promote its "Nike+ Fuelband" running bracelets.

"The wristband tracks your movements throughout the day. It records 'your entire athletic life,' says Nike’s promo video, and can sync that information to your smartphone," wrote Mashable's Kate Freeman. "The wristband records steps taken, calories burned and time of activity."

iQmetrix sampled data from over 1,000 independent wireless retailers across North America reporting that Android phones comprised 36.8 percent of total phones sold, up from 30.5 percent over December 2010.
