Welcome to Part 4 of our 5 part RQ Reporting Tips series! In this addition Sarah Tuff and Tashia Walters will share best practices for setting up Performance Groups.
Your Performance Groups in RQ maintain a grouping of SKUs that you wish to report on. These groupings are visible to you and your executives through your Executive Dashboard and your employees through iQmanager, home-screen widgets and RQ reports. Performance Groups provide a real time account of key metrics.
Here are some quick tips from us to you on the set up of Performance Groups in RQ:
1) Map to the Category Level: Whenever possible, map to the category level to ensure performance management of the groups is simplified. In this way, products added to categories in inventory will automatically be added to the performance group so you will save an additional step when setting up new products! If there are products within a category that you wish to exclude, simply uncheck the ‘Enabled’ option for that SKU in the list for each category.
2) Combine Groups/SKUs: Combine categories or items together that need to be reported on together! For example, your carrier may require you track both your upgrades and your activations. You may want to create a group to manage top sellers, new devices or special promotions. There are countless ways this can be used.
3) Isolate a Single SKU: In some cases, setting the group at the SKU level makes sense in order to isolate a specific product. This is useful for tracking a product launch, buybacks or phone trades, just to name a few.
4) Create Alignment with Business Intelligence (BI): When you are getting started with custom reporting with BI, we will recommend that you build your initial reporting off of your Performance Groups. Ensuring that your performance groups are set up optimally will enable a quick and efficient launch process with the BI service. It serves as an excellent platform for starting you on your way to a large number customized reporting possibilities!
5) What Makes a Good Performance Group: Use Performance groups to measure anything you deem important for various levels in the company to see.
Some examples of good performance groups are:
- Total Contracts (Activations + Upgrades)
- Emerging Products
6) Set Targets: Once performance groups are set up, you are ready to set targets for those groups! Targets are commonly configured at the location level. This method will allow you to see a fixed value for each location and then assign individual targets to the employees at each location.
7) Reporting on Performance Groups: Below is a list of reports that contain performance groups. Remember, they are also visible in the Executive Dashboard, in iQmanager and on the home-screen (Key Metrix Widget).
Executive Dashboard - provides statistics for the company as a whole. This report is a high level overview and is usually reserved for upper level management. It covers a company-wide view of numerous metrics while still allowing for drill-down analysis to the location level.
Store Dashboard – provides statistics for specific location. This report is a high-level overview and is usually reserved for upper-level management.
Performance Metrix Summary Report – allows you to see your performance groups by location or employee.
Graphed Performance Metrix Report – provides a graphical view of performance data.
Pocket Dashboard – provides a quick overview of performance data.
Performance Metrix Report – displays actual vs targets for all performance groups for a selected node in the company tree. Trending is the projected sales for a period, calculated taking the average sales per day to the current date and multiplying by the number of days in the period.
Performance Group Report – displays actual vs. targets of one group for children of a selected node.
Always remember, having performance groups set up well is the first step in setting you up for success for customized reporting with metrics in Business Intelligence.
