What's New in the Q: Week of Apr. 18

By People and Culture Apr 28, 2016

Everyone is all moved in and finally settling into the new beautiful Regina office! The official grand opening has been scheduled for the 2nd week of May and personal invitations are being sent out for those to RSVP. It has been a great first few weeks and everyone is making nice use of the great open hub space to meet, think, eat and drink!kitchen-area.jpgIt is so awesome to walk into any iQmetrix office in Canada and feel, YOU ARE AT iQMETRIX! Every office is unique in its own way, but having a similar design and a great hub to naturally gather at has helped us build towards one of our goals of creating a great consistent employee experience.

If you have friends who are interested in a career at any of our iQmetrix locations, always check out our career page for current opportunities! Even if you don’t see something that matches your skillset, we’re always looking for creative and innovative people. If you feel you can provide value in a different way, we’re happy to work with you in developing a specific role that best utilizes your skill set.

Charlotte hosted two volunteer events in honor of Earth Day 2016.

On Thursday, April 21 we helped weed out flower beds, plant flowers and a tree and boost up an area by the pond at Woodland Discovery, an outdoor preschool. The flower beds were quite over grown but we were able to make them lovely again.

On Friday, April 22, with a generous donation from the iQ Sponsorship committee, we were able to build a butterfly garden for the Ada Jenkins center for the children to enjoy. Cardboard was laid down, several yards of soil were moved about and finally it was all seeded. It will be great to see how the garden grows in a few short months.

iQers are always finding fresh new ways to elevate our culture and our employees. Other businesses takes Friday’s as an opportunity to dress down, whereas the Vancouver office decided to ditch our regular casual threads, gussy up and celebrate Fancy Friday with some even fancier F&B!

The deal was that people dressed up and contributed a delectable dish or a little bubbly. From fully formal attire to poppin’ bottles with a sword, staff did not shy away from the chance to make the most of this very rare occasion.

Developers from all over Manitoba gathered together on April 10 & 11th for Prairie Dev Con, an annual conference that allows developers to increase their skill set while networking with other people in the Winnipeg tech industry. iQmetrix sponsored the event which allowed us to set up a booth that displayed our Endless Aisle product. The conference was a huge hit, with 15 Winnipeg iQers who were all able to bring back some new ideas, perspective and knowledge.

Earth Day kicked off in the Winnipeg office with a downtown clean-up. A group of iQers set out for two hours to help clean the streets of downtown Winnipeg. To celebrate the earth and all the great things it has to offer, we ended the day with a “bring your own, meat, wine, bread, beer or cheese, potluck”. We sampled different homemade wines and beers, some different types of cheeses and iQer, Jen Goertzen, even surprised us with some homemade, fresh baked bread! Needless to say, we did not leave work hungry on April 22nd!
