What's New in the Q: Week of May 25

By People and Culture May 28, 2015

iQ Winnipeg has had an exciting couple of months! After patiently waiting for the completion of the beautiful new Centrepoint building, we were the first residents of the building to move into our bright and beautiful new office located directly across from the MTS Centre, home of our Winnipeg Jets (see above photo)!

Some new features of our office include an open work area concept, a large inviting work/play lounge area including comfy chairs, a wine fridge, and TWO dishwashers. Needless to say, we are all making ourselves at home and very excited about the new digs!

This week, 25 iQers from the Vancouver office participated in the Heart&Stroke Foundation BIG BIKE ride!

The sun shone while pedestrians cheered and waved as we pedaled around the downtown city core on one 30-person bicycle. The iQmetrix riders single-handedly raised a whopping $5,272 with 100% of those proceeds going directly to the help find a cure to heart disease.

But wait! There’s still time to donate as The Big Bike Event is happening across all Canadian iQmetrix office locations! And 100% of proceeds go to The Heart & Stroke Foundation. Donate to the Regina or Winnipeg iQmetrix teams HERE.

On Thursday, May 21, iQmetrix Regina partnered with Solvera and GasBuddy to host our first #TechCrawlYQR.

The event was created to invite local techies to come and explore these three thriving tech companies in Regina. For only $5, participants were able to board a party bus to go and explore each office for 45 minutes. In this time they were given a 15-20 minute presentation about each company accompanied by some tasty treats and cold beverages.

The successful event then wrapped up at Beer Bros. for a private party and some more networking. #TechCrawlYQR was such a huge success, we are definitely looking to host another in the very near future so keep your eyes and ears open for more details!

Our own iQer Jeff Wilson is a Big Brother (pictured below, back row, second from left). Recently at a Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraising event, he and several other iQers participated in the annual bowling fundraiser.

In addition to this, donations from an iQmetrix car wash and a match from the iQ Sponsporship Committee resulted in a 2nd place win for the most money fundraised for the event! The photo below is with the President of the Big Brother Big Sisters local chapter.

Also, the Charlotte Office joined in the fun to help raise money for RunWild, an organization that benefits children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. It was a wonderful day, over $35,000 raised!

Always looking for something fun to do, the Davidson staff recently enjoyed an afternoon of curling (see above photo). It was a blast to learn how to curl as well as compete against each other. Lots of spills, many laughs and great memories were made that day.
