If you're a retailer or an advertiser -- heck, if you're just a consumer -- you gotta see this: It's an interactive infographic from Advertising Age that shows the path taken by a customer's data when she buys a pair of shoes in-store.

It's interesting to see what kind of retail data mining options are out there.

On the actual infographic, you can hover over each touchpoint to see more information about the changing context of the customer's data and, more importantly, who's accessing it and for what purpose.

While the complexity of this flowchart certainly exceeds the pathway of most of our everyday purchasing data, it's interesting to see what kind of retail data mining, loyalty initiatives, and targeted marketing options are out there.
